Personal Reflections On 2022 And What I Hope The Future Holds

If I can stop letting my history repeat itself

I get reflective this time of year. One year is ending and another is getting ready to begin and as a result I tend to look back on the positives and negatives of the outgoing year.

While I’m certain I’m not alone in doing this, I must admit that all this reflection tends to depress me a bit. I’m never as far along as I thought I would, or should be.

On the negative side

I still haven’t gotten any consistency in my efforts. My writing here on Medium has been spotty at best. I constantly struggle with a feeling that I have nothing to write about which I know isn’t true. There are always things to write about.

I’m also frustrated that another year has gone by and still I haven’t started writing the novel that I have plotted out in my head.

I keep convincing myself that it isn’t ready, or that I don’t know where to start, and that is simply not true. All I need to do is sit down and start writing, it’s very simple yet I continue to play “excuses roulette” as to why I can’t start.

It’s the same mind game I’ve been subjecting myself to for years, and it needs to stop.
